Rey Cheatham Banks is a seasoned public policy and government affairs expert. As head of state and local public policy for Equinix, the world’s digital infrastructure company, Rey is responsible for building a robust public policy agenda and collaborating with political leaders and government officials to educate them on Equinix’s products and services and improve policies and practices. Rey works with internal and industry partners to devise and drive strategies to engage local communities to build deeper relations with community collaborators.
Rey began her government affairs career in in Virginia state government. Prior to joining Equinix, she served as chief-of-staff for member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, managing constituent services and developing robust policy and legislative agendas. In addition to her work at Equinix, Rey serves on the Board of Directors of Loudoun Habitat for Humanities, chairs the Loudoun County Chamber’s data center subcommittee, co-chairs the Data Center Coalition’s Community Engagement committee, and is on the Loudoun County Public School Business Partnership committee.
Rey is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a master’s in public administration.
