Data Center Coalition partners with Keep Prince William Beautiful to celebrate World Environmental Health Day
Nearly 75 data center employees joined the effort to clean up two locations
Prince William County, VA (September 27, 2023) — Yesterday, nearly 75 volunteers from local data centers celebrated World Environmental Health Day with Keep Prince William Beautiful at an event hosted by the Data Center Coalition (DCC). The event unfolded at two sites in Manassas, Virginia, where volunteers cleaned up litter and planted trees.
Data centers are essential infrastructure in this increasingly digital age, and they are also dedicated members of the communities where they operate. Through partnerships with local organizations like Keep Prince William Beautiful, DCC and its members are able to give back in meaningful ways.
“Data centers are committed to supporting communities where their teams live and work,” said Josh Levi, President of DCC. “We’re excited to partner with Keep Prince William Beautiful to provide a volunteer opportunity for our members to contribute to Prince William County in honor of World Environmental Health Day.”
Employees from ten data center companies, including Aligned Data Centers, Amazon Web Services, Compass Data Centers, Digital Realty, Equinix, Google, Iron Mountain Data Centers, Microsoft, QTS Data Centers, and STACK Infrastructure, joined in the event to clean up two sites and help plant more than 50 trees.
“Our mission at Keep Prince William Beautiful is to support the environmental health and sustainability of the County,” says Executive Director Rico Fleshman. “We do that by partnering with residents, organizations, and businesses who are invested in helping us make Prince William County a cleaner and greener place through tree plantings, beautification projects, and litter cleanups. On this World Environmental Health Day, we are appreciative of the business support we received to do just that.”
