Role/Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely support for any request requiring action within the data center space to include but not limited to, servers / Network equipment, racking, provisioning power to new rack installations, all data cabling and provide hands on support for problem resolution
  • Monitor, resolve and update all Operations-assigned service tickets throughout your daily shift. This will include, but is not limited to, trouble tickets and customer installations of electrical and physical equipment
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems
  • Install network structured cabling and other infrastructure components
  • Monitor and react to alert / alarm conditions generated from building management system
  • Troubleshoot problems with IT hardware Servers and switches 
  • Run patch cables between IT equipment
  • Install new or Deinstall IT hardware in racks
  • Communicate and collaborate with network and systems teams
  • Set ups the infrastructure needed to connect servers and hard drives

 

Education: Associate’s degree or industry certifications

  • Data Processing Technician Career Studies Certificate (CSC) at Northern Virginia Community College

 

Experience Alternative: 

  • 0-2 years experience in a customer service or data center environment preferred, but not required.
  • Network/Server troubleshooting and hardware break-fix experience
  • Hands on expertise and experience with data center physical layer, racking and hardware maintenance.
  • Data Center, Network/Server troubleshooting and hardware break-fix experience
  • Expertise and experience with data center physical layer, racking and hardware maintenance
